It's been a while? anyone still reading? no? Maybe that's a good thing. [Sep. 1st, 2017|04:22 am]

[music |The Smiths - I Know it's Over]

So a LOT has happened since my last entry. I found the love of my life. The person I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. It all went horribly wrong in one of the most horrible ways which I won't get into details.
The first 24 hours was crippling. The first week was not any better. I don't know how I got through the first month. Oh wait, I have the most amazing friends anyone can ever have. Here I am 2 months later. I finally saw her again in person.
While I cannot forget everything that happened to end this, meeting with her again was really incredible. We talked and laughed. There was a really tight hug at the end and she wasn't letting go. There was a point where I was unable to think about life without her. Now I'm left with no choice. That is a good thing because it was toxic. For me to even entertain the idea of returning to that she would have to change.
I have changed since this happened in some good and bad ways. I'm not saying it's impossible but highly unlikely. There are a lot of factors that would have to happen to put together any of the good that we had together. That final year together was plagued with tribulation and would have taken a miracle to turn around. I was such a confident person about controlling my own destiny and maybe a little arrogant. There are just some things we can not control no matter how hard we try.
So why did I love (and continue to feel this bond with) someone who caused so much hurt? (I know there are two sides of the story and I'm sure I wasn't a saint in the relationship) I felt love from someone who was so tough. She had an incredibly interesting take on life. She gave gratitude before eating. She was spiritual (though not religious). I could share abstract thoughts with her.
There were also things that troubled me but I won't focus on the negative. Maybe I should just to get past this(that's what she did). I am not going to lie. Thoughts of being back with her pop up in my head every now and then. Especially when I wake up from a nightmare about her. It's just my heart playing catch-up with my brain. As I stated before...a LOT would have to happen. I think there are greater odds of me meeting another person who I will love (and will love me) in a more profound way.
Let's wait and see what happens.

World War Z [Jul. 11th, 2013|03:48 am]
David Christian
I hate when Hollywood does this. They should either make a bad film on purpose and stick to a campy theme or take the time and make a good quality movie that serves more of a purpose than scaring people with loud noises and big name actors. It hasn't been a good summer for movies so far. Iron Man 3 I thought was ok. Man of Steel had some issues but I applaud it for not trying to get all nostalgic.

Besides the weak story and acting, it was PG-13. Come on!! Who makes a movie like that PG-13. 28 Days is a classic because there was some reasoning behind it and interesting characters. World War Z had no value whatsoever. I sure hope the book was better.

OK I think I am finally done [May. 8th, 2011|04:20 am]

You can't say I have not put forth the effort in promoting myself. With 2 labels invested in my music, I have conducted interviews.. booked various gigs(some not so appealing), organized a small concentrated US tour, supported my album internationally, DJ release parties(with giveaways), made promotional videos(and properly promoted them!).

I think I can move on and leave this chapter behind. It has set up a base from which to rise from to the next level.

I have learned that you can not progress unless you accept reality. I am coming to terms with who I am, what I want to do, and what I can do.

progress on the new album... [Feb. 9th, 2011|02:42 am]
David Christian
5 tracks in progress several other ideas are in the works
I'm finally in a comfort zone. I have the right gear/software. I'm in a comfortable environment. There's no real pressure.

I've learned a lot from my writing in the past. I am writing and re-writing. Remixing. I'm not declaring anything finished unless I'm absolutely happy with it. Something that the last album lacked was more attention to detail.

"Process" was a tense recording. When I first moved here I don't think I was in a great state of mind. I was definately happier but very impatient and I think that was reflected in the music. I've learned to be more patient since then.

That is not to say that this new music is not aggressive. On the contrary. It is the most aggressive music I have ever composed. Just when things have been pushed to the limits I am going further. In my earlier attempts and composition I had this depth which I since abandoned since the last release. Performing live has had a big influence on how I write. I am exploring more sounds, layers, sonic textures.

I have been influenced by a lot of Hard Techno and minimal Tech House lately. Until these songs are finished I won't know how much influence it's had or if I'm even close to being classified under those genres.

Things are definately interesting in the recording process. I'm recording loops from a lot more of my "live" hardware(drum machines/synths) to mix in Ableton. I'm also layering some electric bass(direct input/and mic'd amp recording) as well as nasty feedback.

The soundcloud app on my phone has been an amazing tool! As soon as I hear something interesting I can record it and upload it to my soundcloud account. The other day I hard an awesome door creek sound that could make up a nasty noisy pad. While on yesterday's visit to the dentist, I left my phone on record and luckily caught some drilling which I can hopefully use. It was recorded kinda low since the phone was a little far from the drill.
